Richard Varney

Richard Varney received his BFA from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, CA in 1972.

He has taught illustration and drawing since 1976 and has 35 years of free-lance illustration, animation and design experience. His work has been presented in The New York Art Directors Annuals; Communication Arts Design Annual; Print Regional Design Annuals; Dallas Society of Visual Communication Shows; University and College Designers Association Shows; CASE, Council of the Advancement and Support of Education (national/regional); AIGA-KC Design Awards; Kansas City Art Directors Club and has received numerous awards and citations.

Richard started teaching animation 10 years ago and his animations for the project, Quarked!™ Adventures in the Subatomic Universe, funded by grants from the National Science Foundation and the Kauffman Foundation, won 2 awards from the regional American Institute of Graphic Arts organization and can be seen at www.quarked.org.
