The Department of Design at The University of Kansas offers professional, problem-solving, and client-based educational experiences. KU Design offers an undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design (BFA) with areas of concentration in Illustration & Animation, Industrial Design, Photography, and Visual Communication Design and a graduate degree, Master of Arts in Design (MA) with areas of concentration in Design Management and Strategy and Interaction and User Experience Design.
KU Design faculty are practicing professionals, active in their area of expertise, and passionate about preparing students for a career in the design industry. Students have access to state-of-the-art facilities, technology, and studio spaces on campus. Students are encouraged to apply their classroom experiences through study abroad programs and internship opportunities. Students are held to high standards, resulting in a strong academic community and exceptional student work.

- Fall 2021:
- Incoming Freshmen - Deadline for Priority Consideration - Dec. 1
- Incoming Freshmen - Deadline for Final Consideration - Feb. 1
- Transfer, Current KU Students, or Readmits - Feb. 1
- Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis at the beginning of each month after the deadlines.
