Labs and Technology
Design Computer Labs
The Department of Design maintains the computer area as a service to the students. The Digital Media Center is the result of the financial support of the Hallmark Corporation provided in 2004 to build the technical infrastructure needed to support our educational mission. The labs are in use for classes, ranging from basic image editing to advanced 3D modeling, during the semester. Room 308 is open to all students in Architecture, Design, and Planning as a printing facility. There are student lab monitors scheduled to provide assistance, but it is generally a self-service facility. The computer labs have the following equipment: laser printers for color and black/white output, 17-42 inch Epson and HP large format color output, flatbed and film scanners.
The 6,400-square-foot Common Shop includes a range of woodworking equipment, a plastic vacuum former, metal-working equipment, and classroom space: Hours of Operation.
The department has computers labs with Mac and PC computers with the software students need. However, it is strongly recommended that every student has a laptop that they can bring with them to class: Recommended Technology.
